Brian, thank you for joining Northwest Noise in an internet chat for the website. How’s your fall season treating you so far

Fall has been busy with the release of the CD and playing shows. And now the holidays – seems to never be enough time…

Jaycob Van Auken Interview

Jaycob Van Auken

Recently, Jason Gears caught up with Portland, Oregon musician Jaycob Van Auken and attempted to pick the brain of the now southern Cali singer/songwriter and get a few answers regarding his journeys up and down the west coast, what beer truly disgusts him and why the hell cats are superior to dogs in his opinion. Sit back, crack open that adult beverage and enjoy some Northwest Noise, one on one time with Jaycob Van Auken in this latest internet interview.

Debra Arlyn

by Jason Gearhart

“It’s such a beautiful, Complicated Mess.”

Debra ArlynRecently, Northwest Noise was fortunate enough to conduct an online interview with the lovely and talented Northwest pop sensation, Debra Arlyn. Signed with Eugene, Oregon’s Homeslice Music, Arlyn has recently completed her sophomore record titled Complicated Mess, only a year after her debut album Thinking Out Loud created a positive buzz within the national and independent music communities. Arlyn answered a wide variety of questions where you the Northwest Noise and Debra Arlyn fan, upon reading, will get an in depth look at different aspects of Arlyn’s musical and personal endeavors and interests.

We jumped around to talk music, likes, dislikes and you’ll even find out what her favorite beer is! Honestly, would you find that type of information from any other website or television show out there? The word no comes to mind when answering that question.

Also, two fans submitted questions for Debra, so look out for those mixed in the interview. Anyway, I’d like to call the overall theme to this Northwest Noise online interview piece, Debra Arlyn: Musician in Transition!

Trevor Ras

by Jason Gearhart

“Call me tonight. Sit and wait for my call.”

Trevor RasIt’s that time of year once again where backyard barbeques and beachside bummin’ are all the rage and of course, your Jason Gears is here to make sure that while you’re listening to your iPod on some sunny southern California beach or crankin’ up the music for your guest at your BBQ extravaganza, musician Trevor Ras and his debut solo record Let It Roll is playing and soothing you in whatever summertime situation you’re in.

Let It Roll, a 7-track EP, offers a blend of nostalgia, tales of the ups and downs of life and a message on being able to follow through in going after your dreams. “It’s (the album) about being true to myself, throwin’ all my cards on the table and just letting it roll,” said Trevor Ras. When asked what his favorite track on the album was, Ras quickly stated that the closing track The Journey was the closest song to him. “It’s about having that last hurrah of moving on to new things in life, but you’ll never lose that bond you have with family and friends,” Ras remarked.
