Oh Darling CD Release Review

MP3 of Shoulda Never

We were a the CD release for Oh Darling on Friday, October 3rd at the Doug Fir. Oh Darling’s new release, Nice, Nice, is one of my favorite albums for 2008, from Portland. It’s a mature composition, with a unique sound and has enough energy to propel the band out of Portland and on to bigger and better places.

This was the third time I’d seen Oh Darling play live, and they didn’t disappoint. My favorite Oh Darling show is still the one they played at Secret Society earlier this summer. Jasmine’s and J Marie’s presence and flair make for a memorable show, while Daven’s single guitar brings a surprising sonic verve and their drummer Jake is prone to throw his drum sticks in the air at the end of a show, run around the entire audience and land back at the drum kit to finish off the evening with a resounding drum crash.

NW Noise interviewed Oh Darling back in early June.
