The Fast Computers - Heart Geometry
MP3 of How Many Times
Playing in my car and on my iPod is the soon-to-be-released EP by The Fast Computers, Heart Geometry.
Their first SP release, self-titled The Fast Computers, featured four tracks that introduced Portland and the world to the sounds of the Fast Computers. Those sounds are layered, with modulating organs and persistent guitar-married-to-drums rhythm. About a year ago, a couple of us from Northwest Noise went to a Fast Computers show at the Towne Lounge. Despite the ridiculous PA the Towne Lounge provides, the music and talent of the Fast Computers shone through, and as we’ve mentioned numerous times, we totally dig their drummer, Jennifer Fox.

My, this band has matured. Their full release Heart Geometry is well produced, beautifully layered and showcases remarkable improvement in songwriting. Much has already been written about Heart Geometry, and it’s been pretty much wined, dined and taken to bed by the reviewers; and so, I join my peers in saying Heart Geometry is a must have purchase for 2007. An independent band that releases an album of this caliber should be patted on the back, for the sheer selfish purpose of motivating them to producing more music.
Our favorite tracks from Heart Geometry are Sweden Hasn’t Changed, Gravity/Love, Math Predictions and How Many Times – an amazingly well crafted song with poppy background vocals, a killer piano accompaniment and a theme we can all relate with. We hope that Heart Geometry breaks through the indie hipster and creative community crowd and gets a chance to be enjoyed by all, because anything less would be a shame for this album of inspired, creative and fun music.
- National release date: October 16, 2007
